You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)

The Montreal Canadiens announced today that they are retiring Ken Dryden's jersey number on January 29th.

Dryden wore jersey #29 for his 8 season career in Montreal, in which he won 6 Stanley Cups, a Con Smythe, the Calder and 5 Vezinas. He was the reason I got into playing goal when I was a kid. Which is probably why you might recognize his mask as my Blogger avatar.

Congratulations to you, Mr. Dryden!

Hammer To Fall

Thus begins NO QUARTER: Year 2!

Michael May and I finally have the name of our comic book. After much thought and discussion (and polling people on the Digital Webbing and Steve Niles' boards), we have officially decided on Robots Vs. Monsters.

Yep, we're pretty much right back to where we had started. Sad, really. But, you know, it was the one name we kept coming back to, time and time again. It just wouldn't stay down. Plus, with over 70% of all the people we asked/polled saying it was the one to go with, we feel the title will serve the project well.

So, now I'm just waiting on the final script for issue #1. Michael is mulling over some suggestions put forth by our editor, Jason Rodriguez. Once he hammers out whatever needs to be hammered out, I'll be giving RvM my full attention.

Don't Think Twice, It's Alright

So it looks like I won't be getting EA Sports' NHL 07, after all. I did a little research and found out that it's got its' share of problems. That's good news. Now I can continue to focus my energy on getting some comic books drawn. Well, that is until next year's release of NHL 08.....

Speaking of hockey, the NHL exhibition schedule has gotten underway! Sadly, my Atlanta Thrashers lost their first preseason game 5-2, to the Dallas Stars, tonight. I'm alright with that. It's the regular season that counts. As long as Kari Lehtonen stays healthy for the duration of the season, Atlanta should be in the hunt for their first post season appearance. Knock on wood.

Under Ice

If you don't hear from me for a few weeks, you'll know I bought EA's NHL 07. It goes on sale this Thursday....

No Face. No Name. No Number.

Ok. Here's the problem. Michael May and I are putting together this comic book that has a great deal of giant robots fighting giant monsters. It's not that the book won't be dealing with more complex issues, it definitely will, but the struggle between the robots and monsters will be a main force driving the plot. So, the title of the book should be a good indicator as to what's under the four color cover, right? And, that brings us back to the problem..... what should we call it?

I'm asking (hell, pleading) for your important input and insight. Of the three titles that have managed to bubble to the top on the naming cauldron; 1) Robots vs Monsters, 2) Robots Kill Monsters, and 3) Forces of Nature, which one do you think is the one we should go with? Please leave a comment and let me know which one is best.

I'd love to hear your thoughts about your choice, too! And, if you have a better name (and would be willing it let us use it if we like it) please feel free to suggest a name.

Thanks!
