Shoot To Thrill

I am thrilled how this turned out!

Colour on this for Thursday... maybe... I'm in inking mode right now and should probably stick with it.

Bombtrack

I'm going to be part of an anthology book called, Zombie Bomb!. The book is the brainchild of Adam Miller and Rich Woodall and will be released in 2010 by Terminal Press. The 5 page tale I'm going to be drawing is written by Anthony Schiavino and should be tons of ghoulish fun! You can see some art from some of the other contributing artists here.

In preparation (and for fun) of that little project, I've got this zombie pinup in the works. Here are the pencils for it. I'll do the inks for tomorrow and then throw some colour on it for Wednesday or Thursday (time dependent).

The Perhapanauts inking continues. The pages are looking good. I have to come up with a cover soon, too.

edit* This pinup was inspired by the book Spaghetti Bros., written by Carlos Trillo and illustrated by Domingo Mandrafina. IDW just released 4 volumes of it and it is awesome. Check it out if you can!

Another Way To Die

Flashback Friday.

Another page from one of my high school sketchbooks, circa 1987. The Frank Miller influence can be easily seen on this page. Never did finish some of these pages (like inking the guy's head in panel one).

Happy Loving Couples

These are a couple of pages I roughed out while in between things. They are an example of where I might go, at least genre wise. Or I might incorporate some of the panels into my rs153 project.

Nothing To Say

Not much to say about this. Just some dude that I drew.

Perfect Love... Gone Wrong

Not perfect but whatyagonnado? Don't have time to smooth out the rough edges on this. The Perhapanauts aren't going to ink themselves.

Last Rose of Summer

I just can't seem to get the Turtles out of my mind when I sit to sketch. In truth, Donatello was the one turtle that I never really got excited about. To a young boy, his weapon was just too boring. C'mon, a big long stick? Plus, Don was the brainy one that would sit in the corner and mix broken appliances and such. Borrrrrrring. But, here's my take on an older Donatello.

I drew this while sitting in the front yard taking in the last of the summer sun.

Marker and whiteout on paper.
Colour version of this will happen in the next day or so.

There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'

Previous zombie pic but with colour. It took me a little too long to do, as I'm learning to work on CS3 (I had been rockin' the Photoshop 5.5!), but I'm pretty happy with the way it came out.

Have a great weekend!

Tomorrow, Wendy

Another zombie warm-up drawing. Ended up with a real Simonson vibe to it.
Marker on paper.

I'll try and colour this for tomorrow.

Violently Happy

I made some adjustments to the ground area of the drawing from the previous post and then added some colour, in Photoshop. I'm pretty happy with the result.

Your Possible Pasts

I drew this on Sunday while sitting in the shade, watching Stewart playing in his sandbox. It's another image of a character that might be part of that "possible future project" I've talked about. I'm going to throw some quick colours over this tonight and should have it ready to show for tomorrow.

Eat Me Alive

One of the sketches I did while vacationing up at Whistler, this weekend. I got a short story concerning some fleshing eating folk coming up and I thought I'd just get my mind working on it in advance. It's going to be fun to draw.

Wonderous Stories

Here's the exciting info from Trickster head honcho, Matt Dembicki:
Fulcrum Publishing will publish Trickster. It will be out June 2010, premiering at Book Expo America in late May. Fulcrum is printing some bookmarks to promote the book that I hope to have for the Small Press Expo in September. Yeah!
I'm thrilled to be part of this anthology. It's filled with wonderful stories and art that center around the Trickster character from various Native American cultures. It is also the very first graphic novel from Fulcrum, which is an honour, indeed.

Make sure to check out the Trickster blog for more info.

The new cover ( shown above) is by artist Jacob Warrenfeltz.

The Weaver

Time to change it up and show some sequential work. This is a page from the Ape Entertainment UFO Anthology story that Chris Beckett and I are contributing called, Life Is Funny.

I'll be honest, I was extremely happy with the way it came out after I inked it. But, now that Osmarco Valladao has weaved his colourful magic on it, I love this page! Especially the second panel. Perfect! I can't wait to see the whole thing up on the Ape site for all to read. It really is a great little story.
